While sweating is the body's natural way of cooling down, that doesn't mean it's always desirable. Especially on such a meaningful day as your own wedding. If you don't want stressors or the environment to affect how you look and feel during your big celebration, be sure to take preventive steps. Below, we've rounded up some tips to help you stay dry and fresh on your wedding day.
Get the most out of your antiperspirant
Antiperspirant is like a magic wand when it comes to sweating. But to make the product really work, you should apply it right. Experts recommend using it on dry skin. And if you choose to apply it once a day, consider doing so at nighttime, as that's when your underarm skin is the driest. Also, your armpits are not the only area of your body that sweats. Gel, liquid, or cream antiperspirant can be applied to the upper lip area or palms. For large areas, like your back, choose antiperspirant in spray or wipe forms. They not only stop odor but also absorb sweat perfectly. Before using the products, however, make sure they are all aluminum-free. Else, you risk staining your attire.
Use Lemon Juice
If for some reason you don't use antiperspirants, using lemon juice is a great alternative. The acid in lemon naturally reduces excessive perspiration. Cut the lemon in half and rub it on your underarms while lightly squeezing the liquid. Leave the lemon juice on for at least 30 minutes, and then wash it off thoroughly with lukewarm water. Easy and effective!
Use Armpit Pads
Armpit pads are a great solution for brides and grooms who want to prevent stains on their attire. They fit discreetly into the underarm area and absorb excess sweat, helping to keep the fabric dry and clean. Armpit pads are available in various sizes and shapes and can be easily removed and replaced if needed. Check out products by Sirona, Purax or Garment Guard. Take note: if you have a sleeveless gown, armpit pads may not work for you.
Apply Cooling Spritz
If you wed in the summer, keep a cooling spritz in your bridal clutch. You can buy it in your local store or try to make one yourself. All you need to do is mix a few drops of peppermint oil into a spray bottle full of distilled water and shake it well to combine. Apply it on your body before dressing and then whenever you feel hot. Be cautious! Do not spritz the menthol mist on your face or anywhere near your eyes. As for your face, use a special hydrating mist like those from Herbivore, Laneige or Glow Recipe.

Consider Getting Botox
Did you know that Botox injections can be used to combat sweat? It’s considered one of the most effective treatments for sweat on underarms, hands, forehead, and feet. So if you are not scared of needles and injections, Botox might be a good option. It has minimal side effects, plus the results last three to five months. But don't wait until the last minute! Make sure to visit an expert at least 8 to 10 weeks before your wedding.
Try miraDry
If you prefer a more permanent solution for sweating, try miraDry. It's a popular non-invasive treatment that uses thermal energy to target and eliminate the sweat glands in your underarm area. The procedure is performed by a trained medical professional and takes no more than an hour. The cool thing about MiraDry is that a single session is often enough for immediate effect. Once the procedure is done you may experience numbness, bruising, or swelling in your underarm area for a few days, so consider getting miraDry well in advance of your wedding date.
