We’re sure you’ve seen wet-look hair on the runways of Fashion Weeks and a variety of red carpets — Kendall Jenner, Megan Fox, and Rihanna, we are looking at you. It’s hard to find a single brand that has not made use of this hairstyle yet. The just-out-of-the-shower look has appeared on models for Balenciaga, Altuzarra, Acne Studios, and more. It is high time brides jump on this trend, especially if their weddings take place in warmer seasons. We asked our professional hairstylist Dina Khmylova to share her opinion on this look and give us some tips for recreating that runway wet-look style.
The wet hair effect has become more and more popular recently. Although in Germany, where I live and work, brides don’t push the envelope, so they prefer the more classic styles for their weddings. When I have the opportunity, I do a wet look because I think it looks so chic!
Here are a couple of tips to make it simple: wet your hair with water, apply gel (my favorite one is R+Co Motorcycle), and spread it through your hair with a comb. Using water first will reduce gel consumption and speed up the process. You can also blow-dry your hair with a hairdryer, combing it in the right direction for a long-lasting result. If you want a lighter effect, you can use a hair mousse (for example R+Co Aircraft) and hair dryer. You can also use R+Co Freeway to fix the result. For those who have a low forehead and a smaller face, this style will work amazingly well for you. But let’s not forget that there are no rules and if you like something, go for it!
